Verification principles
Provenance, context and the limits of a conclusion.
Start with the original
Check where material came from, when it was created and what was changed. Reposts of one recording do not count as independent observations.
Status labels
Unverified means assessment is incomplete. Under review means context is being examined. Insufficient evidence limits the conclusion. An explanation exists refers to the particular aspect stated in editorial notes. For a document it may establish publication, not every event discussed in it.
Locations and dates
Markers show approximate regions. We do not invent one location for a worldwide event or scientific report. If a day is unknown, we show a month or period instead of a guessed date.
Sources and assessments
An official report is a primary source for an institution’s position, not automatically a final answer. We separate editorial interpretation from observations and update material when evidence changes.
